Targeting by content category

Targeting by content category -targeting method used for adjusting ad rotation only at pages which thematically correspond to ad thematic.

In Adgine.net, context targeting is closely connected to content categories.

Content category – term, used for describing thematic orientation of ad site/web-site/web-site directory/specific page.

While doing context targeting, advertisers choose categories (from the list of available in the network), thus directing ads to contextually corresponding pages. Such targeting mechanism surpasses similar mechanisms by effectiveness owing to manual settings of pages by concerned publishers and concerned advertisers, not by robots.Targeting by content category is based on Rule of content targeting – every page has TO CORRESPOND or NOT TO CORRESPOND to content category or list of several categories. For one profile several content targeting rules may be set. Such profile’s elements will be shown to visitors only in case if they comply with all rules.

Example: Auto centre is selling wheel disks for BMW & Nissan, and they have all sizes availiable besides 14” size. In order to attract potentially interested group of customers, profile containing these ads has to be targeted according to 3 rules.

1. Pages of advertising site have to CORRESPOND to “wheel disks” category.

2. Pages of advertising site have to CORRESPOND to “BMW” & “Nissan” categories.

3. Pages of advertising site must NOT CORRESPOND TO “14” wheel disks” category.

Technically, targeting by content categories works according to 2 scenarios:

1. Showing profile elements targeted by content categories at advertising sites with attached corresponding content categories (i.e. advertising site structure is set and corresponding content categories are attached)

2. If advertising site is large and publisher is unwilling to attach content categories manually he may do META-tagging on ad site’s pages, containing keywords which correspond to existing list of categories (or , if  ad site already has META-tags, make sure they are relevant) At such pages Adgine.net will show elements of correspondingly targeted profiles.
